With more than two months remaining before the Aztecs’ football home opener, Sept. 8 against Cal State Long Beach, San Diego State has already received more new orders for football season tickets than in any other previous year, according to Vickie Larsen, director of ticket operations.

The Aztecs have received 5,142 new season-ticket orders, including 4,459 from its “Fill the Murph” campaign, a drive being conducted by 180 volunteers.

The previous high was 4,106 in 1987, the year following the Aztec’s WAC championship and appearance in the Holiday Bowl.
