Frank Kornblatt, the assistant girls’ basketball coach at Glendale High for the past three seasons, has been hired as the team’s head coach.

Kornblatt, 46, replaces Paul Broneer, who resigned as coach in May after three seasons.

Kornblatt coached the girls’ frosh-soph team at Burroughs High from 1980-87, and the girls’ junior varsity in 1987-88. His teams won seven Foothill League titles and compiled an overall record of 131-30.

“This was the right time and the right opportunity for me,” said Kornblatt, a 1962 graduate of Grant High. “I’ve coached three of the girls on this team at various levels since the fourth grade.”
