Huber Scores Upset at Net

Ditta Huber of La Jolla needed little more than 30 minutes to beat the reigning San Diego Section girls’ tennis champion, Lee Ann Rostovsky, in the championship match Sunday at the Southern California Junior Sectional Championships in Fountain Valley.

Huber scored a 6-2, 6-1 victory over Rostovsky, who won the county’s high school championship while playing at La Jolla High. Rostovsky will compete at UCLA in the fall. Huber, 15, attends a private school, San Diego Academy, and did not have had a chance to play for the San Diego Section title last year.

Huber beat the girls’ 18 indoor champion, Laguna Niguel’s Anne Mall, 6-1, 6-1, in the semifinals.
