AMERICAN LEGION BASEBALL ROUNDUP : Lehman Ignites Agoura-Oak Park

Chris Lehman topped a four-run seventh-inning rally with a three-run home run as Agoura-Oak Park upset Chatsworth, 5-4, Wednesday in an American Legion District 20 game at Oak Park High.

Lehman’s homer, his fifth of the year, cleared the left-field fence and scored Ed Gillis and Jeremy Keehn, whose run-scoring single made the score 4-2.

The loss was the second in as many days for Chatsworth (18-3), which fell Tuesday to Las Virgenes because of a forfeit.

Agoura-Oak Park improved to 13-8.

In other District 20 games:

Sun Valley 7, Van Nuys-Notre Dame 1--Jake Loveridge pitched a five-hitter and struck out two for Sun Valley at Poly High.

Marlon McKinney had two doubles and an RBI and Jonathan Campbell tripled in two more runs for Sun Valley (16-5).

Glendale 10, Eagle Rock 0--Jon Strauss went four for four and had three RBIs and Danny Gray had three hits and three RBIs as Glendale won a game called after five innings.

Brendan Barrett and John Aguilar added two hits each for Glendale (15-5). Jason Greenberg struck out six and allowed two hits in five innings.

Las Virgenes 6, Woodland Hills West 4--Paul Schaffer hit a grand slam in the fifth inning for Las Virgenes (7-12) and pitcher Keith Evans survived a seventh inning rally at Calabasas High.

Schaffer went two for three and had five RBIs to support Evans, who allowed three earned runs, struck out five and walked four.

For Woodland Hills West (13-6), Aaron Weiss had three hits, including two doubles.

Reseda 9, Valley ET 3--Joe Tushnet pitched five innings for his first victory. He also drove in four runs as Reseda (11-11) won at Birmingham High.

Tushnet struck out two and allowed four hits while walking three. Bob Bookatz helped Reseda with three hits.

Woodland Hills East 7, West Hills 1--Benji Belfield had three hits, including a home run and a triple, and drove in four runs for Woodland Hills East (10-9).

Woodland Hills West d. Newhall-Saugus (forfeit)--With the score tied, 1-1, in the bottom of the second, a Newhall-Saugus player was ejected for arguing a call, leaving Newhall-Saugus with only eight players.

Michael Petruzates (7-1) picked up the abbreviated win for Woodland Hills West (16-3).

San Fernando 7, Quartz Hill 3--Ethan Rodriguez, David Rojas and Dereck Ornelas each had two hits and James Encinas improved to 4-0 in a game at San Fernando High.

North Hollywood 9, Burbank South 8--North Hollywood overcame a 7-0 deficit and took advantage of 19 walks in a game at Burroughs High.

North Hollywood had just five hits, but Mike Salas’ double in the bottom of the sixth knocked in the tying and winning runs. Sammy Ciaramilaro (2-0) capped five innings of relief by striking out the side in the top of the seventh inning.

DISTRICT 16

Conejo A 9, Conejo B 0--Bryan Corey struck out 11 and threw his first career no-hitter in a game at Thousand Oaks High.

Corey walked one and faced just one batter over the minimum. He also doubled, singled and drove in a run.

For Conejo A (16-2), Jim Chergey went three for three with two RBIs and Jeff Naster had two hits and three RBIs.
