Former Raider Lyle Alzado, who is suffering from inoperable brain cancer, underwent tests Tuesday after being hospitalized because of possible dehydration, said his agent, Greg Campbell.

Alzado, who also played for the Denver Broncos and the Cleveland Browns during his 14-year NFL career as a defensive end, was admitted to an undisclosed hospital Sunday after two days in which he could not hold down food or liquids, according to Campbell.

“So far the doctors think he had become dehydrated,” Campbell said, “but a number of tests are still being taken.” The agent said it was expected that Alzado would be able to leave the hospital in a few days.

In February, Alzado experienced dizziness and an early diagnosis was that he had an inner ear infection. But in March, his symptoms increased to include double vision and impaired speech. A brain biopsy later revealed the cancer.
