Greg Hayes, Canyon High basketball coach, has decided to remain at the Canyon Country school despite receiving threats for his role in the Southern Section’s case against Harry Welch, the school’s suspended football coach.
Hayes, who considered leaving for a job in Orange County, said he has been the victim of threats and vandalism since he told Southern Section Commissioner Stan Thomas last month that he witnessed repeated violations by the Canyon football program. Welch has been suspended for 5 1/2 months as football coach for conducting an off-season practice.
