California IN BRIEF : RIVERSIDE : 3.5 Earthquake Awakens Residents
An earthquake registering 3.5 awoke residents in San Bernardino and Riverside counties but caused no damage or injuries early Saturday. “It was a sharp jolt. It really shook the walls,” said a Riverside County sheriff’s dispatcher who declined to give her name. The quake struck at 3 a.m. and was centered just north of Riverside, 15 miles southwest of San Bernardino, said Russ Needham, a spokesman for the National Earthquake Information Center in Golden, Colo. The quake was felt in the cities of Rialto, Chino Hills, Ontario, Riverside, San Bernardino and Fontana, authorities said.
