Cal State Northridge strong safety Eric Treibatch was named Western Football Conference player of the week Tuesday after making two interceptions and four solo tackles in the Matadors’ 20-13 loss Saturday to Eastern Washington.

Treibatch, a 6-foot, 207-pound junior from Encino, prevented an Eastern Washington touchdown late in the second quarter when he intercepted a pass at the CSUN five-yard line.

Toward the end of the third quarter, the former Montclair Prep standout stepped in front of the intended receiver for another interception. His return was limited to four yards because of a CSUN clipping penalty.
