OUTLOOK
Much of the offense’s production could fall to Steen if he is healthy. He gained 976 yards last season, including 356 in two games. Steen missed one entire game and parts of at least four others because of injuries, including a painful hip pointer, last season. Smith, who started two games last season at quarterback and was 24 of 55 for 248 yards and six interceptions, was drafted in a late round by the Astros last spring. Estes was expected to carry much of the defensive load this season, but he suffered a knee injury in the Pirates’ scrimmage with Santa Monica and is expected to missed at least three weeks. OCC lost several players from its championship team, but has some talented replacements.
