Pro Football Daily Report : AROUND THE LEAGUE : McGwire Gets Some Work for Seattle
- Share via
Seattle Seahawks rookie quarterback Dan McGwire handled most of the work in Wednesday’s practice in Kirkland, Wash., but Coach Chuck Knox said he won’t name a starter for Sunday’s game against Indianapolis until later in the week.
Knox said McGwire, Jeff Kemp and Kelly Stouffer are all being evaluated in this week’s quarterback derby.
Kemp started the past three games in place of injured Dave Krieg, but has thrown six interceptions and fumbled twice in that span.
McGwire, a 6-foot-8 rookie out of San Diego State, saw his most extensive practice time since training camp, handling nearly 75 percent of the snaps Wednesday.
“We’re going to practice all three of them this week and we’ll make a decision at the end of the week,” Knox said. “We’ll have somebody out there.”
“I’m not asking questions, I’m just going about my business,” McGwire said. “If Chuck Knox decides to go with me, I’ll be ready. But I don’t know what the plan is and I’ll just wait ‘til later in the week and see.”
