THOUSAND OAKS : 2 Men Hurt in Fall Down Elevator Shaft
- Share via
Two Oxnard construction workers suffered minor head injuries and cuts Tuesday after they fell 30 feet down an elevator shaft in Thousand Oaks while installing plasterboard in an unfinished office building, a fire official said.
Jesus Salinas, 18, and Francisco Garcia, 27, were taken to Los Robles Regional Medical Center. A nursing supervisor said they were treated and released after the fall at 329 Rolling Oaks Drive.
Ventura County Fire Capt. Wayne Michael said the men were walking on a 2- by 12-foot piece of wood placed over the shaft when it broke.
It is the second time in three weeks that a worker has fallen down the shaft. On Sept. 24, a Santa Paula man broke two ribs after he fell three stories.
