Three gunmen who were let into a house by a 9-year-old girl left her tied up in a laundry room while they forced her father to hand over jewelry, police said Tuesday.

Neither family member was injured in the holdup, which occurred at about 7:35 a.m. Monday in the 3500 block of Emerald Isle Drive. Police said they had no suspects.

Sgt. Lief Nicolaisen said one of the robbers came to the door with a package, posing as a delivery man. When Margaret Taslakhyan let him in, the others followed. The three men tied up the girl and put her in the laundry room, he said.

The robbers, one armed with a shotgun and another with a handgun, then confronted her father, Sedrak Taslakhyan, while he was taking a bath and demanded jewelry, police said.

Taslakhyan led the men to another part of the house, where they took jewelry and a video camera. The intruders then closed the father inside a bathroom and fled, police said.

After he no longer heard the men inside the house, Taslakhyan left the bathroom, activated an alarm and freed his daughter, Nicolaisen said. No getaway vehicle was seen.

Los Angeles County sheriff’s bomb squad deputies, who were summoned by Glendale police to examine the package left behind by the robbers, determined that it was empty.

Glendale police declined to disclose the value of the jewelry taken in the holdup.
