The Friars held the ball for 14 plays and 8 minutes 19 seconds before Malbrue scored on a five-yard run. The extra point by Scott Vecchione, his fourth of the game, gave Servite a 28-0 lead.

Malbrue had 11 carries for 64 yards in the drive.

Servite rushed for 183 yards in the game. Friar quarterback Eric Hannah threw only three passes but completed two for 31 yards.

Servite had two long drives in the first half. On its first possession, Servite went on an 11-play, 63-yard drive and scored on a one-yard run by Ken Mousseau with 3:32 left in the first quarter for a 7-0 lead.

After Ocean View went three plays and punted, Servite went on a 13-play, 63-yard drive before Malbrue went over from the one.

Servite’s final touchdown in the first half came without any help from the offense.

Ocean View was pinned at its one-yard line on third down and fumbled the snap. Linebacker Joe Vargas recovered the ball in the end zone and Servite led, 21-0, with 5:11 left in the half.

“We we’re coming off a difficult loss last week,” Servite Coach Larry Toner said. “And they learned from it. They didn’t do anything magnificent, but they were steady.”
