Crespi 28, Lompoc 7--Crespi quarterback Cody Smith completed 11 of 19 passes for 157 yards and a touchdown as Crespi (4-2) defeated defending Division VII champion Lompoc (4-2) at Pierce College. Smith’s touchdown pass--a 26-yard strike to wide recevier Joe Ruggiero--capped the game’s opening drive. It was a five-play, 57-yard march.

Midway through the second quarter, Crespi sophomore running back Darren McElroy scored on a 35-yard run to give the Celts a 14-7 lead.

Crespi’s defense allowed Lompoc (4-2) only 92 yards in total offense in the second half and contributed a score on a 41-yard fumble recovery return by lineman Alex Pupich at the end of the third quarter.

Lompoc running back Tony Thompson led all rushers with 112 yards in 27 carries. Crespi’s Torie Lee (18 carries, 82 yards) added the final score with 4:22 remaining on a one-yard run.
