ROUNDUP : Valdivia Scores Twice in CSUN Soccer Win

Armando Valdivia scored two goals and assisted on another to help Cal State Northridge beat host Loyola Marymount, 3-1, in overtime in a nonconference soccer match Tuesday.
Valdivia, a sophomore midfielder, scored the match’s first goal on an assist from Keith Martin in the first half to give the Matadors (9-5-1) a 1-0 lead. The Lions’ Rob Faison tied it, 1-1, before halftime.
Valdivia scored again, from 15 yards, in the first overtime period to give Northridge a 2-1 lead, and Danny Daniels iced the victory with a goal in the second overtime period.
Travis Harding, an Alemany High graduate, recorded four saves in goal for CSUN.
The Lions fell to 2-12-1.
In other men’s soccer matches:
Moorpark 2, Glendale 1--John Simmons scored at the 65-minute mark to break a 1-1 tie in a Western State Conference match at Moorpark.
Chris Goldsbury had the first goal for Moorpark (3-6-2, 2-2-1).
Mission 1, Hancock 1--Juan Cadena scored with five minutes remaining to give Mission a 1-0 lead, but Hancock scored with less than a minute left to forge a tie in a WSC match at Mission.
Mission is 4-6-2, 2-2-1. Hancock is 1-2-2 in conference play.
WOMEN’S SOCCER
Moorpark 5, Oxnard 0--Heather Rolland scored three goals and added an assist for Moorpark (6-2-1, 2-0) in a WSC match at Oxnard.
Shannon Cunningham and Liz Albin each scored for Moorpark and Aimee Lyman recorded the shutout in goal.
COLLEGE WATER POLO
Valley 11, Ventura 9--Robert Brown and Steve Barron each had three goals to lead Valley (14-7-3, 5-1) to a WSC victory over host Ventura (4-2 in conference play).
WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
Pierce d. Glendale, 15-8, 5-15, 15-7, 15-5--Nikki Ferreria had nine kills and four aces for Pierce (8-5, 7-3) in a WSC match at Pierce.
Ventura d. Cuesta, 15-6, 15-8, 15-8--Ashley Armstrong had 12 kills and Erin Donaldson 11 for host Ventura (11-0, 10-0) in a WSC match.
HIGH SCHOOL WATER POLO
Harvard-Westlake 32, St. Francis 3--Brian Rho and Ryan Slynn scored four goals each to lead Harvard (20-2, 4-0) in a San Fernando League match at home.
Jim Gotcher and Rich Won each scored three times for Harvard.
GIRLS’ VOLLEYBALL
Thousand Oaks d. Agoura, 14-16, 15-11, 14-16, 15-8, 15-9--Kaili Kimura had 24 kills and Karli Cleary added 14 for Thousand Oaks (9-5, 8-1) in a Marmonte League match at home.
Gretchen Gulbranson had 47 assists for Thousand Oaks.
Royal d. Newbury Park, 15-4, 14-16, 15-4, 15-13--Jennifer Hamilton had 17 kills to help the Highlanders (9-2, 7-2) beat Newbury Park in a Marmonte League match at Royal.
Chaminade d. St. Bernard, 15-10, 15-6, 12-15, 15-8--Tanya Chrisman had 13 kills for Chaminade (9-3, 5-0) in a Mission League match at St. Bernard.
Notre Dame Academy d. Harvard-Westlake, 15-13, 15-13, 15-5--Laura Wolf had 12 kills for Westlake (6-3, 1-3) in a Sunshine League match at Notre Dame Academy.
Bell-Jeff d. Flintridge Sacred Heart, 17-15, 15-10, 15-3--Jany Despotov had 12 kills, Andy Ferchaw added 11 and Deanna Cabrera had eight for Bell-Jeff (12-0, 4-0) in a San Fernando League match at home.
La Reina d. Carpinteria, 15-4, 15-2, 15-6--Amy Crotty had 13 kills and Amy Gusick added six for La Reina (9-2, 4-1) in a Tri-Valley League match at Carpinteria.
L.A. Baptist d. Maranatha, 15-7, 15-9, 15-3--Sarah Rameson had 12 kills to lead the Knights (9-2, 5-0) past Maranatha (8-3, 4-1) in an Alpha League match at L.A. Baptist.
Hart d. Burroughs, 15-6, 5-15, 15-2, 15-7--Shannon Martin had 13 kills and Lorile Downen added 10 for Hart (3-6, 2-3) in a Foothill League match at home.
Van Nuys d. Monroe, 15-0, 14-16, 15-6, 15-5--Jenna Panatier had nine kills and Cora Everding added seven to lead the Wolves (6-1, 3-0) past Monroe (1-6, 0-3) in a Valley Pac-8 Conference match at Van Nuys.
Birmingham d. Canoga Park, 15-11, 15-10, 15-12--Tina Larson had 13 kills and Emily Goodman added nine to lead the Braves (7-3, 6-2) to a Valley Pac-8 victory over Canoga Park (4-6, 3-4) at Birmingham.
Louisville d. St. Genevieve, 15-11, 15-2, 15-5--Madette Soliman had eight kills and Danielle Arreola added 10 service aces for host Louisville in the San Fernando League match.
Louisville is 2-7, 2-2 in league play.
Viewpoint d. Antelope Valley Christian, 15-6, 15-2, 3-15, 15-7--Debbie Little had nine kills and Arezoo Jafroodi had seven service aces to lead the host Patriots (6-7, 4-5) to a Heritage League victory over the Eagles.
L.A. Lutheran d. Pacific Christian, 15-13, 15-13, 15-13--Jennifer Haas, Ana Lopez, Carrie Schauman and Deonna Olson each had five kills to lead the Lions (8-2, 7-2) to a Heritage League victory over Pacific Christian at Salvation Army Recreation Center in Pasadena.
Campbell Hall d. Whitney, 12-15, 16-14, 15-11, 15-8--Dana Peterson had nine kills and Megan Lucas had 23 set assists and nine service aces to help the Vikings (7-5, 6-3) beat Whitney (6-3 in league) in a Delphic League match at Campbell Hall.
King Drew d. Valley Alternative, 11-15, 15-13, 15-7--Denise Williams had six kills for King Drew and Valerie Carter had six for Valley Alternative in a nonleague match at Holmes Junior High in Northridge.
Komal Patel had eight service aces for King Drew (4-6, 2-6). Valley Alternative is 4-7, 3-5.
Oak Park d. Bishop Diego, 15-8, 15-6, 15-2--Kristine Butler had eight kills to lead the Eagles (6-3, 3-2) past host Bishop Diego in a Tri-Valley League match.
