PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Rib Injury Puts Bell Out ‘Indefinitely’

Share

Coach Art Shell said rookie Nick Bell suffered “three or four” cracked ribs in the Raiders’ 24-21 loss to the Chiefs Monday night in Kansas City and will be out indefinitely.

Fortunately, the Raiders have a bye this week, and injured tailback Marcus Allen is scheduled to return to the roster for the team’s Nov. 10 game against the Broncos in Denver.

Shell said Bell will probably replace Allen on injured reserve next week when Allen returns. “With Nick going down like this, that’s a very good possibility, replacing (Allen) with Nick,” Shell said.

Bell was injured in the first quarter on a one-yard scoring run when he was hit in the end zone by Chief cornerback Albert Lewis.

Shell said he also expects guard Max Montoya to return for the Raider-Bronco game. Montoya has missed five consecutive games with a groin injury.

Jeff Jaeger made both of his field-goal attempts Monday night and has been successful 21 of 23 times this season.
