Laguna Hills running back Dave Webber ran for 258 yards and two touchdowns Friday night to lead the Hawks to a 22-20 Pacific Coast League victory over Laguna Beach at Laguna Beach High.

Webber, the lone back in the Hawks’ offense, had 42 carries.

Trailing, 7-0, in the first quarter, Laguna Hills tied the score on a three-yard run by Webber with 3:16 left.

Quarterback Justin Vedder extended the lead to 15-7 on a one-yard touchdown run and Sergio Jimenez’s two-point conversion catch from Vedder with 2:29 left in the half.

Laguna Hills (5-3-1, 3-1) made it 22-7 on Webber’s second touchdown, a one-yard run to end an 11-yard drive that was set up when the Hawks recovered a fumble on the opening kickoff of the second half.

Laguna Beach (2-7, 0-4) suited up only 20 players, but the Artists came back with a pair of second-half touchdowns.

The first came on a 17-yard run by Chris Faubert that capped a four-play, 65-yard drive with 9:11 to play in the third quarter; the two-point conversion pass failed. The second score was the result of an errant Hawk punt attempt, with Laguna Beach defensive tackle Mike Robert recovering the ball in the end zone to make it 22-20 with 8:45 to play.

On its next possession, Laguna Beach turned the ball over on downs at its 20 with 4:42 to play, and Laguna Hills ran out the clock.
