PRO FOOTBALL : DAILY REPORT : RAIDERS : Former Ram Green Expected to Play

Share

Denver Bronco running back Gaston Green, who has sat out for the last three weeks because of a thigh injury, will probably play Sunday against the Raiders at Denver. Green, who rushed for 451 yards in three seasons with the Rams, is the AFC’s fourth-leading rusher with 554 yards in six games this season.

Green’s return means that rookie Greg Lewis, who rushed for 111 yards in the Broncos’ 20-13 victory over the Pittsburgh Steelers last Sunday night, will probably return to the bench.

Injury update: Raider guard Max Montoya, who has sat out five games because of a groin injury, is probable for Sunday’s game.

Denver defensive end Ron Holmes (shoulder/knee), safety Randy Robbins (hamstring) and linebacker Keith Traylor (thigh) are probable.

After throwing for 3,526 yards and 15 touchdowns, with 14 interceptions, as the Broncos finished last in the AFC West last season, John Elway has regained his form. The AFC’s fourth-rated quarterback has passed for 1,919 yards and seven touchdowns, with three interceptions.

Elway also has rushed for four touchdowns this season, twice the total of the Raider team.
