Tailback Terrance Brown rushed for 140 yards and three touchdowns to lead Valley College to a 62-21 Western State Conference football victory over West Los Angeles on Saturday at Valley College.

Valley (4-4 overall, 4-3 in WSC play), rolled up 414 rushing yards.

Valley’s Benny Evans also rushed for more than 100 yards, gaining 116 yards and scoring two touchdowns, all in the first half.

Damon Tice added touchdown runs of nine and 13 yards for Valley, which snapped a two-game losing streak and kept its slim playoff hopes alive. Valley is 1-2 in Northern Division play.

The Monarchs used 14 running backs and finished with 501 yards in total offense. Five players contributed to the Valley scoring and the Monarchs put points on the board in each quarter.

Valley emptied its bench early, playing all three quarterbacks on its roster in the first half. The Monarchs scored on their first three possessions and led, 20-0, after 12 minutes.

West L.A. (2-6, 1-6), a loser in its past five games, was limited to 204 total yards and did not gain a first down until 11 minutes remained in the second quarter. At that point, Valley held a 34-0 lead.

Valley was without its second-leading rusher, Nigel Bostic, who missed the game because of a quickened heartbeat. But the rushing attack hardly seemed to miss him, averaging 7.1 yards a carry.

Larry Edmonds rushed for 101 yards in 25 carries to lead the West L.A. offense, but he fumbled three times. The Oilers lost only one of the miscues, but the other two came on third-down plays and forced West L.A. to punt the ball back to Valley.

Edmonds was limited to 39 yards through three quarters but picked up 62 against Valley’s reserves in the final 15 minutes.
