PRO FOOTBALL DAILY REPORT : RAMS
Jim Price has been making steady progress at the H-back/tight end position and Robinson says the free agent from Stanford is one of the main reasons for the recent surge of offense. The Rams have averaged 406 yards of total offense in the last two games.
“Price has a big role now,” Robinson said. “He’s a big player for us. I don’t know how many catches he’s got (25 for 294 yards and two touchdowns), but right now he’s making some key blocks.”
Price has taken over the role of lead blocker--usually the job of the fullback in Robinson’s offense--on a lot of plays, which allows the Rams to go with a one-back formation more often.
“The problem with two backs these days is that the two backs sometimes brings in an eight-man (defensive) front,” Robinson said. “With two tight ends, people tend to back off a little more.”
