Fresh from a 95-66 victory over University of Victoria (Canada), Cal State Northridge ends the exhibition portion of its basketball season with a game against High-Five America at 7 tonight at Matador Gym.

High-Five America, composed of former college players, is considerably more experienced than Victoria.

“They are mature and they know the game,” Northridge Coach Pete Cassidy said. “They will give us a different look than Victoria.”

Unlike Victoria, which employed a zone defense Friday night, High-Five America is likely to play man-to-man defense.

“I expect (High-Five America) to be very aggressive and athletic, defensively,” Cassidy said.

High-Five America will have a distinct size advantage with 6-foot-10 center Mike Champion, a former Gonzaga and Seattle Supersonics player, and 6-9 forwards Dwane Texas of Grambling and Mark Miller of Utah.

For Northridge, 6-7 junior Percy Fisher will start at center and 6-6 senior Keith Gibbs and 6-5 senior Shelton Boykin will be the forwards. Sophomore point guard Andre Chevalier and freshman Ryan Martin round out the lineup.

Martin scored 17 points against Victoria, second on the team only to sophomore walk-on Brooklyn McLinn, who came off the bench to score 19.

CSUN guard James Morris, who is recovering from a groin pull, is expected to play tonight.

Morris, a junior transfer from Imperial Valley, missed the game against Victoria.

High school teams from the Valley area have been invited to the game free to hear the halftime message High-Five America delivers on the perils of alcohol and drug abuse.
