John Charles passed for an NCAA Division II-record 592 yards as the Portland State Vikings defeated Cal Poly-San Luis Obispo, 55-35, Saturday night to claim the Western Football Conference title at San Luis Obispo.
Charles broke a record of 568 yards, set by Bob Toledo for San Francisco State in 1967.
