Mater Dei baseball player Cale Carter has signed a letter of intent with Stanford, Monarch assistant coach Tom Linnert said Monday.
Carter, a senior outfielder, chose Stanford over Notre Dame, Georgia Tech, Arizona and California.
Carter, 5 feet 11 and 180 pounds, is a switch-hitter who batted .380 last season. He has a 4.4 grade-point average.
Carter played for the gold-medal winning West team in the Olympic Festival this past summer in Los Angeles, and was a member of the USA junior national team and the American Goodwill team.
