Golden West 24, Orange Coast 7--Derrick Ragsdale scored twice and Kevin Mullens had two interceptions in Golden West’s victory at Orange Coast College.

The loss could eliminate Orange Coast (6-4, 1-4 in conference) from a bowl bid.

With the score tied, 7-7, Ragsdale went into the end zone from one yard out with 14:16 left in the second quarter.

In the final minute of the game, Mullens intercepted a pass by Orange Coast quarterback Donnie Smith at the Pirates’ eight. The interception was Mullens’ sixth of the year. Two plays later, Ragsdale scored on a seven-yard run with 20 seconds left.

For Golden West (5-5, 2-3), which had 226 yards rushing, Donnie Beed carried 27 times for 94 yards. Ragsdale carried 13 times for 82 yards. The Rustlers’ defense held the Pirates’ running game to 123 yards. Quarterback John Shipp completed nine of 14 passes for 92 yards.

Smith scored Orange Coast’s only touchdown on a seven-yard run with 3:21 left in the first quarter. Smith, intercepted three times, completed 13 passes for 172 yards.
