TUSTIN : Dinosaur Dash Benefits Schools

The Tustin Public Schools Foundation will hold its Dinosaur Dash 5K on Sunday at 8 a.m.

The race will begin and end in Tustin Marketplace at El Camino Real and Jamboree Road. The foundation also is sponsoring a 2K Brontosaurus Blitz Fun Run, which begins at 9 a.m.

Prizes will be awarded for the top finishers in 15 age divisions. Participants can register through schools in the Tustin Unified School District or at the event. The cost is $15 for adults and $10 for children. The registration fee includes a T-shirt.

Several Olympians will attend, including high jumper Dwight Stones, who won the bronze medal at the 1972 Olympics; Bruce Furniss, a winner of three gold medals in swimming in the 1976 Olympics; Ann O’Brien, a member of the U.S. track and field teams in the 1928 and 1936 Olympics; Dana Schoenfield Reyes, silver medalist in swimming in the 1972 Olympics, and Evelyn Ojeda, a gold medal track and field winner in the 1932 Olympics. Ojeda is a Tustin High alumnus.
