PREP BASKETBALL ‘91-’92 PACIFIC COAST LEAGUE : Laguna Hills

OUTLOOK

The Hawks don’t have a lot of size, but Amstead is nonetheless pleased with Laguna Hills’ rebounding ability. “Our strength is our hustle, which makes us a good defensive and rebounding team,” Amstead said. The front line features Nelson and Milo, both honorable mention all-league players last season. Nelson is Laguna Hills’ top returning scorer with an 8.8 average, and Milo is expected to increase her 4.3 average of a year ago. Kijima, who can play both guard and forward, is also back after averaging 6.5 points as a junior. Amstead also expects Feniello to emerge as a top player after a good all-around sophomore season in which she played extensively. Feniello will play both guard and forward for the Hawks. Zolikoff is back at point guard, and Rivera adds depth at forward. Amstead is concerned about Laguna Hills’ lack of perimeter shooting and size. Still, he expects the Hawks to compete for a top-three finish in league. Amstead joins the rest of the league’s coaches in picking Estancia and Costa Mesa as the top two teams.
