OUTLOOK

The Atlanta Braves and Minnesota Twins made the two greatest turnabouts from one season to the next in major league baseball, winning the league pennants in 1991 after finishing last in their respective divisions the previous season. The Lobos could do the same in the Garden Grove League basketball race this season if favorite Kennedy falters. Under Olivier, a former Los Amigos and USC standout who jokingly listed himself among the team’s top newcomers, Los Amigos fields the tallest team (four players are at least 6 feet 8) in the league. And with three returning starters, Los Amigos should be Kennedy’s toughest competition. “I definitely think we’ll match up with Kennedy size-wise, but everybody has to play to their potential (to beat Kennedy),” Olivier said. Blythe, who averaged 15 points last season, and Benson, who averaged 14, are the primary scoring threats. “Benson is looking very strong. His outside shooting has improved a lot,” Olivier said. The duties at center probably will be handled by Brown, but Karsten figures to see plenty of action, giving the Lobos a sizable front line.
