OUTLOOK

Without much experience or height, Dana Hills figures to be relegated to a spoiler’s role in the league race. The Dolphins simply don’t have the horses to stay with Irvine and Capistrano Valley. Or even San Clemente. They’ll be hard-pressed to repeat last season’s third-place finish. There is hope for the future, however. Skelton hopes his younger players will improve, gain some experience and be contenders next season. This season, he doesn’t have much choice than to rely heavily on sophomores and juniors. Anderson, who averaged six points and Baden, who averaged one point, are the only players on the roster with varsity experience. And they don’t have much. Baden has good size at 6 feet 5, but he plays forward. Anderson, at 6-2, is listed as a center, and that doesn’t bode well for the Dolphins’ inside game. The newcomers, as usual, are uncertain commodities. Bare and Hinsey played on the sophomore team last season, and are making the big jump to the varsity. Hobert, Hulse and Lasnier were moved up from the junior varsity. Patterson, Dana Hills’ shortest player, did not play at all last season.
