In interdivision games next season, the Rams will play host to the New England Patriots, the New York Giants, Minnesota Vikings, Phoenix Cardinals and the winner of Sunday’s Miami Dolphin-New York Jet game.
Their interdivision road games will be against the Buffalo Bills, Dallas Cowboys, Green Bay Packers, Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the Jet-Dolphin loser.
Though 16-year veteran right tackle Jackie Slater says he’s undecided about whether to try to making it 17, Coach John Robinson said Slater deserves to make the Pro Bowl an eighth time this year and should come back in 1992.
“I think Jackie should return next year,” Robinson said. “Big-time player, big-time guy, big-time performer. Big-time actor in crises, negative-type of environments.
“I’ve got in the back of my mind a list of players that I think the ultimate of, (and) he’s certainly way up high on that list--both as a man and as a player.”
Robinson also mentioned tailback Robert Delpino, the team’s best offensive player this year, as a possible Pro Bowl player. Delpino bruised his right ankle Sunday and is questionable for Sunday’s finale against the Seattle Seahawks.
NFL teams voted for the squads Monday, and they will be announced Wednesday.
Robinson praised receiver Henry Ellard for passing the 1,000-yard mark in receiving for the fourth time.
“Just a great pro and a great guy and a big accomplishment, I thought,” Robinson said. “He made some big catches, tough catches.”
