Dana Hills Coach Skelton Resigns; Reich Takes Over on Interim Basis

Share

Rich Skelton has stepped down as the basketball coach at Dana Hills High School after five games for personal reasons, assistant coach Tom Reich said Friday.

Reich will be the team’s interim coach through the remainder of the season. Skelton will remain at the school as a teacher and athletic director.

Skelton has been the Dolphins’ coach for two of the previous three seasons. He was suspended by the Capistrano Unified School District for the 1989-90 season for contacting a player before he had enrolled at Dana Hills, a violation of Southern Section rules.

The Dolphins were 28-25 in Skelton’s two seasons.

Before coming to Dana Hills, Skelton was the head coach at Nebraska Grand Island High for two seasons. He also coached at San Clemente and Workman high schools and was an assistant coach at Saddleback College for five seasons.
