Frank Seurer, who quarterbacked Edison High to the 1979 Southern Section Big Five Conference championship, was selected as a territorial choice by the Utah Pioneers Monday in the Professional Spring Football League’s draft.

Seurer, 29, has played the past two seasons with the semipro Orange Coast Dolphins after spending 1986 and 1987 with the NFL’s Kansas City Chiefs. In 1984 and 1985, he was with the Los Angeles Express of the now-defunct U.S. Football League.

The Nevada Aces selected three former Cal State Fullerton players in the territorial phase--kicker Vince Abbott, defensive back Charley Anthony and defensive lineman Ed Gilles. The Aces also took two former Orange County high school standouts, quarterback Bob Frasco, who led El Modena to the 1978 Southern Section Southern Conference championship, and offensive lineman Lance Zeno, a 1985 All-American at Fountain Valley High School.

Three other former Titans were selected in the open phase--defensive back Nuygen Pendleton, (Tampa Bay Outlaws, fourth round), defensive lineman Quinton Knight (Washington Marauders, 11th round) and defensive back Tony Williams (New Mexico Rattlesnakes, 17th round).

Draft choices have made commitments with the 10-team league, which is scheduled to open its first season Feb. 29.
