COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Webster Scores Career-High 36 to Lead Master’s Past Puget Sound, 88-77

Forward Jason Webster scored a career-high 36 points and made 12 of 19 shots from the field to lead The Master’s College to an 88-77 victory over Puget Sound in a men’s nonconference basketball game at Master’s on Wednesday night.

Webster also made 10 of 11 free throws and added seven rebounds for the Mustangs (12-7).

Webster, Master’s leading scorer and rebounder, entered the game averaging 14.9 points on 49.5% shooting from the field and 5.7 rebounds a game. Teammate Tom Bruner added 21 points on seven-of-10 shooting.

Master’s made 18 of 26 shots (69%) in the first half en route to a 49-35 lead. Master’s made 28 of 50 shots in the game.

Point guard Damon Greer had six points and 10 assists for Master’s.

Jon Mitchell scored 23 points and added 11 rebounds for Puget Sound (19-5).

In other men’s games:

Antelope Valley 75, Barstow 74--Chris Walters’ layup put Antelope Valley (10-10, 4-1) ahead with 11 seconds left, and Barstow (10-9, 2-2) missed two shots in the closing moments of a Foothill Conference game.

Barstow led, 64-54, with 7 minutes 41 seconds left, but the Marauders went on a 13-2 run behind Chris DeGlopper’s seven points.

D. J. Jackson scored a game-high 20 points and added 13 rebounds for Antelope Valley.

Moorpark 70, Bakersfield 67--Jimmy Galbert, who scored 17 points, sank a pair of free throws with a few seconds to play to lead Moorpark (7-14).

WOMEN

Valley 95, Oxnard 44--Amy Horst came off the bench to score 15 points, leading host Valley (18-3, 4-0) in a Western State Conference interdivision game.

Stacie Toon added 13 points and 8 rebounds for Valley, the fifth-ranked junior college team in the state.

Karen Revelez scored a game-high 26 points for Oxnard.
