Morris Downplays Interest in CSUN

San Diego State quarterback Cree Morris said Tuesday that he is still considering transferring to Cal State Northridge, but that the Matador program is not at the top of his list.

“They are bringing in a big back, Jamal Farmer (a transfer from Hawaii), so they will be handing the ball off,” Morris said. “I want to throw the ball.”

When asked if Northridge Coach Bob Burt had indicated the Matadors would emphasize the running game, Morris said: “No, but I’m not stupid. They brought in two big tackles and Farmer. They are going to get the ball into his hands.”

Morris, the Aztecs’ starting quarterback until the fifth game of the 1991 season when he was beaten out, visited St. Mary’s last week and plans to visit UC Davis today.

Sylmar High running back Tobaise Brookins has made an oral commitment to attend Washington.

Brookins, who also made recruiting trips to California and Colorado, plans to redshirt his freshman year and major in pre-med.
