3 Area Players Named Football All-Americans

Royal High quarterback Ryan Fien, Agoura offensive lineman Steve Hochman and Alemany tailback Terry Barnum each have been named to SuperPrep magazine’s All-American team.

Fien, who has committed to Texas, threw for 1,720 yards and 23 touchdowns in leading Royal to a 10-1 record last season. In three seasons, Fien (6-foot-4, 200 pounds) threw for 4,542 yards and 50 touchdowns. According to SuperPrep, Fien is among the top 20 quarterbacks in the nation.

Hochman (6-4, 245), who has committed to Miami, was among 41 offensive lineman honored. Barnum (5-10, 180), who rushed for 1,058 yards and 13 touchdowns, was among 21 players who were honored because of their athleticism.

Barnum, Fien, and Hochman also were among 11 regional players named to SuperPrep’s All-Far West team.

Antelope Valley running back Freddie Edwards, Westlake wide receiver Erik Holcomb, Simi Valley offensive lineman Kirk Robertson, Canyon defensive lineman Chuck Osborne, Camarillo offensive lineman Eric Bateman, and tailback Tobaise Brookins and wide receiver Brian Roberson, both of Sylmar, were All-Far West.

Alemany wide receiver Richard Dice (6-2, 205), who caught 44 passes for 695 yards and was considered among the top five receivers in the nation by at least one scouting service, was No. 88 among SuperPrep’s 88 All-Far West players.
