COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Golden West Women’s Home Streak Hits 40

Golden West ran its home winning streak to 40 games with an 89-55 victory over Cypress Friday in an Orange Empire Conference women’s basketball game.

It was also the 28th consecutive conference victory for Golden West (20-4, 4-0 in conference). Golden West, the two-time defending State champion, opened a 42-23 lead at the half.

Cinnamon Basco and Jenny Sullivan scored 18 points each, and Jennifer Harney had 16 for Golden West, tied for first with Saddleback. The teams meet Wednesday at Saddleback in the final game of the first round of conference play.

Sandra Bernardo scored 21 and Joan Maurer added 12 for Cypress (6-15, 0-4).

Riverside 84, Orange Coast 65--Rachell Auld scored a career-high 22 for host Riverside (14-8, 2-2). Stacey Giem scored 14 points, and Nicole Champion had 11 for Orange Coast (13-9, 0-4).
