Marty Denkin, dismissed as the assistant executive officer for the California State Athletic Commission in June of 1989, returned to the commission as a staff member.

Denkin was dismissed for allegedly accepting cash and gifts for giving preferential treatment to boxing managers and promoters, according to the State Department of Consumer Affairs.

He was placed on administrative leave when charges were filed against him in February of 1989, and he was dismissed when the Department of Consumer Affairs made its ruling four months later.

Denkin later asked for an administrative hearing, which occurred last year. Judge Byron Berry ruled in November that Denkin was not guilty of all charges and that his dismissal was improper.
