CSUN’s Morris Ordered to Rest After Heart Tests

Share

Cal State Northridge basketball player James Morris will be held out of practice today when the Matadors resume drills after a one-day break.

Morris spent several hours undergoing tests at Sinai Samaritan Medical Center of Milwaukee on Monday after suffering chest pains while warming up for Northridge’s game against Wisconsin-Milwaukee. After his arrival in Los Angeles on Tuesday afternoon, Morris underwent an electrocardiogram and a chest X-ray.

The examinations Monday and Tuesday produced the same diagnosis--an inflammation of the sac around the heart. Rest and anti-inflammatory drugs have been prescribed.

Morris is scheduled Thursday to undergo an echocardiogram, a test that examines the internal structure of the heart. Doctors will await results of that exam before determining when Morris can return to practice.

Morris, a 5-foot-8 junior from Tallulah, La., is averaging 7.6 points a game as the backup point guard to Andre Chevalier.
