COLLEGE BASKETBALL ROUNDUP : Jackson Carries Antelope Valley to 95-63 Victory

D.J. Jackson recorded game highs in points and rebounds to lead the Antelope Valley men’s basketball team to a 95-63 victory over host Victor Valley in a Foothill Conference basketball game Wednesday night.

Jackson, a freshman forward from Dothan, Ala., finished with 28 points and 15 rebounds. He made 13 of 21 shots from the field.

Antelope Valley, which held a 50-30 lead at halftime, improved to 14-10, 8-1 in conference play.

In other men’s games:

Glendale 90, Bakersfield 68--Juwan Smith (18 points), Richard Bagnerice (14), Will Burr (13), Osiris Nalls (13) and Harry Marks (11) each scored in double figures to lead host Glendale (12-10, 2-1) in a Western State Conference game.

Canyons 78, Santa Monica 73--The Cougars overcame a nine-point halftime deficit to win the Western State Conference South Division game.

Five players scored in double figures for Canyons (17-6, 2-1).

Moorpark 75, Cuesta 69--Jimmy Galbert scored 22 points on 10-of-13 shooting and two free throws, leading the host Raiders (8-15, 1-1) in a WSC North Division game.

WOMEN

Antelope Valley 93, Mt. San Jacinto 55--Margo Stanley had 27 points and 14 rebounds, and Charley Johnson added 20 points, seven assists and six steals for visiting Antelope Valley in a Foothill Conference game.

Santa Monica 71, Canyons 64--Three players scored 17 points or more to lead visiting Santa Monica in a WSC South Division game.

Marchelle Hedrick had 24 and Bridget Trumpet and Danielle Hill each scored 17 for the Corsairs. Shannon Solway led the Cougars (10-14, 4-4) with 23 points and Kate Stoll added 17.

Bakersfield 70, Glendale 60--Stephanie Ball had 18 points, but host Glendale fell to 2-5 in Western State Conference play. Denise Dal Ponte (15) and Lisa Bjornberg (13) also scored in double figures for Glendale (9-13 overall), which rallied from a 16-point halftime deficit.
