University of the Pacific went more than 11 minutes without a field goal but was still able to defeat Cal State Fullerton, 73-69, Saturday night in a Big West Conference game played before 3,290 in the Spanos Center.

Tony Amundsen scored 20 points and made four of eight three-pointers, Randy Lavender added 18 points, and Dell Demps had 14 to pace the Tigers, who improved to 7-10, 3-5 in conference.

Bruce Bowen (19), Kim Kemp (career-high 14), Joe Small (13) and Aaron Sunderland (13) scored in double figures for the Titans (7-10, 3-5), but forward Agee Ward, who had been averaging 23 points in road games, was held to a season-low six.

Pacific took a 28-25 lead on Lavender’s basket with 7:36 left in the first half, but the Tigers didn’t make another field goal until the 16:21 mark of the second half, when Randy Morphew made a three-pointer.

Fullerton had built an eight-point lead during the Tigers’ dry spell and maintained that cushion until Pacific began to heat up from the outside.

The Tigers made 12 of 16 free throws in the final 1:51.
