In Angelus League boys’ soccer:

Mater Dei 2, St. John Bosco 0--Chris Rossi and Brandon Smallwood scored for the Monarchs (17-2-2, 6-0). Tom Evans had seven saves in his ninth shutout of the season and fifth in six league matches.

In Olympic League girls’ soccer:

Orange Lutheran 4, St. Margaret’s 1--Kristina Riedmann scored twice for the Lancers (8-6, 5-3).

In Olympic League girls’ basketball:

Capistrano Valley Christian 40, Whittier Christian 37--Michelle Smelcer scored 10 of her 16 points in the first quarter as the host Eagles (8-10, 5-3) took a 16-4 lead.

In nonleague boys’ basketball:

Orange Lutheran 89, Inglewood South Bay Lutheran 80--Lenny Gavin scored 20 points for the Lancers (10-10).

St. Michael’s 69, Chino Boys Republic 66--Jocques Wright had 32 points and 14 rebounds and Jon Grobler had 26 points for visiting St. Michael’s (8-9).
