MOORPARK : Hearings to Discuss Annexation, Game

Share

The Moorpark City Council will hold two special public hearings today, one on the proposed expansion of the city’s boundaries and another on a paint ball game site that is planned for a downtown neighborhood.

The council is holding the Saturday hearings for residents who have not been able to attend weekday evening meetings about the proposals.

Under the expansion, the city could annex up to 6.3 square miles of mostly vacant land where developers have proposed building 5,500 homes. Along with the proposed annexation, city officials are reviewing several developers’ proposals to construct about 4,000 homes within the current city boundaries.

The council will also review a recent Planning Commission decision to allow a site for paint ball games in an older residential neighborhood. Council members decided to consider overturning the commission decision because of complaints from residents in the neighborhood.

The council meeting begins at 9 a.m. at Moorpark City Hall.
