Former heavyweight champion John Tate has been charged in Knoxville, Tenn., with aggravated robbery for allegedly beating up a man and robbing him of $14. Tate, who won the World Boxing Assn. championship in 1979 by defeating Gerrie Coetzee of South Africa, gave his address as the Knoxville Area Rescue Mission.
