Pat Degnan, assistant head coach at Cal State Northridge, was offered the position as football coach at Alemany High on Friday, according to Father Robert Milbauer, the Alemany principal.
Degnan, who coached the quarterbacks, receivers and special teams at Northridge, is expected to inform Alemany of his decision Tuesday.
Last fall, Alemany finished 6-4 and tied for third at 3-3 in the Mission League under Coach Pat Blackburn, who resigned after the season.
Degnan, 37, has spent the past six seasons at Northridge and was an assistant at Mesa College in Grand Junction, Colo., from 1982-85. He is a former quarterback who played at the University of Utah and graduated in 1979.
Blackburn recently joined the Northridge staff as an assistant.
Jeff Flohr, an offensive tackle from Crespi High, signed a letter of intent Friday to play football next fall at St. Mary’s.
Flohr (6-foot-5, 270 pounds) also took recruiting trips to UC Davis and Cal State Northridge.
