PREP ROUNDUP : St. Margaret’s Streak Stopped by Ribet Academy

La Canada Ribet Academy, the defending Southern Section Division V-A champions, defeated St. Margaret’s, 69-39, in a nonleague boys’ basketball game Saturday in San Juan Capistrano, ending the Tartans’ 10-game winning streak.
Orville Turner had 24 points and Lydell Hill added 18 points for Ribet (16-6). Lupe Rodriguez scored 15 points, including four three-pointers, for Academy League champion St. Margaret’s (13-7).
Ribet forced 15 first-half turnovers and held St. Margaret’s to 26% shooting from the field.
In Angelus League boys’ soccer:
Mater Dei 4, Bishop Amat 0--Trevor Ickes scored his 13th goal of the season in the second half for host Mater Dei (20-3-2, 9-1), the third-ranked team in Division 4-A.
Servite 5, Loyola 2--Clay Harty and Shawn Parchan each scored two second-half goals for host Servite (12-5-2, 6-4), which tied Santa Margarita for second place.
In Angelus League girls’ soccer:
Mater Dei 1, Santa Margarita 0--Monica Chavez scored the game-winning goal with four minutes remaining for Mater Dei (20-2-2, 8-1-1), ranked-third in Division 4-A. Becky Thomas made three saves to record her 15th shutout.
In the championship match of the Tournament of Champions field hockey tournament:
Santiago 1, Fountain Valley 0--Teresa Puskas scored the only goal of the match on a penalty corner shot for Santiago (12-3-5). Fountain Valley is 14-3.
