In another Division I-A game:

Ocean View 63, El Toro 40--Down one point after the first quarter, Ocean View got tough on defense, making 15 steals and allowing El Toro only 29 points the rest of the game. Guards Kristin Brun and Tricia Lindquist and forward Kristy Bellan each had 12 points. Ocean View (19-6) will play at University Saturday in first-round play. El Toro finished 7-16.

In Division I-AA:

Fountain Valley 58, Esperanza 24--Julie Murdent had 14 points for host Fountain Valley (12-14), which pressed from the outset and took a 25-6 lead after one quarter. Christina Coleman and Sally Nuruki each had 10 points for the Barons, who advance to play at No. 2 seed Lynwood Saturday. Esperanza finished 8-15.

Santa Ana 41, Santa Ana Valley 38--Nancy Love made two free throws with less than a minute remaining to give Santa Ana its final margin of victory. Natalie Romero had 14 points and Cynthia Trotter added 11 points, 10 steals and nine rebounds for visiting Santa Ana (9-13), which advances to face fourth-seeded Chino Saturday. Tracey Thomas had 15 points and 15 rebounds for Santa Ana Valley (13-10).

In Division II-AA:

Katella 62, Compton 48--Rachel Davis scored 25 points and had six rebounds and Carrie Glodt scored 15 for host Katella (11-12). Katella led, 23-21, at the break then outscored Compton, 20-12, in the third quarter. Katella (11-12) plays at Tustin Saturday.

In Division V-AA:

Capistrano Valley Christian 66, Chadwick 39--Heidi Elliott had 22 points and 14 rebounds and Mindy Martinek had 12 points and 13 rebounds for host Capistrano Valley Christian (10-13), which faces Brentwood Saturday. Marcy Giosa had 10 points and eight assists and Michelle Smelcer also had eight assists for the Eagles.
