Foothill 67, La Quinta 54--Jared Winger scored 14 first-quarter points to spark host Foothill (14-11), which will play Newbury Park in the next round Tuesday.

Foothill finished with four players in double figures, led by Winger with 18 points and 10 rebounds. The Knights had a 39-11 rebound advantage over La Quinta (4-20).

La Quinta cut the lead to 12 in the fourth quarter, 62-50, on Todd Snyder’s fourth three-pointer but could get no closer. Snyder, the Aztecs’ 5-foot-4 sophomore guard, finished with 14 points and five assists. Teammate Greg Greenfield led all scorers with 20 points.

Santa Margarita 75, St. Francis 71--Santa Margarita (18-8) made only three of eight free throws in the fourth quarter, but Ryan Barentine made both ends of a one-and-one with 22 seconds remaining to give the Eagles a 75-71 lead. Sean O’Brien had 19 points and 12 rebounds and Dan Bathey had 15 points and 12 rebounds for Santa Margarita which advances to Tuesday’s second round to play Lompoc.

Western 55, Bellflower 54 (OT)--Chris Jackson scored 19 points to lead Western (17-7). With the score tied, 50-50, at end of regulation, Jackson made a three-pointer at the beginning of the overtime period to propel the Pioneers.

Servite 78, Rim of the World 56--Guard Matt Kenney scored 16 points in the first quarter as host Servite (14-11) opened with 32 points in the opening eight minutes of play and breezed in the first round. Kenney opened with four three-point shots in the first quarter and finished with 20 points.
