Cal Lutheran 83, La Verne 57--Jeff deLaveaga scored 22 points to lead the Kingsmen (13-11, 9-3) past visiting La Verne (13-10, 6-6) in a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference game.

Valley 78, Bakersfield 67--Randy Brown scored 19 points to lead visiting Valley (18-13, 7-3) in a WSC South Division game.

The Master’s 119, Dominican 63--Jason Webster had 18 points and 10 rebounds to lead host Master’s (20-9, 10-1) in an NAIA District 3 game.

SOFTBALL

Cal State Northridge 3, Cal State Long Beach 2; Cal State Northridge 10, St. Mary’s 0--Northridge’s Cami Allen and Tracy Tousley combined on a no-hitter against St. Mary’s in the San Diego State tournament. Allen pitched the first four innings and Tousley the final three.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

Valley 81, Bakersfield 60--Rosa Mendez scored 18 points and Stacie Toon added 11 and nine rebounds for visiting Valley (28-4, 14-1), which won its fifth consecutive WSC title.

Ventura 63, Cuesta 54--Cori Herman scored 20 points to lead host Ventura (25-6, 8-0) in a WSC North Division game.

Andrea Williams and Erica Probasco each added 12 points. Ytteb Bowls had 14 rebounds.

Canyons 78, Glendale 67--Shannon Solway scored 23 points to lead host Canyons (16-15, 10-5) in a WSC South Division game.

Kim Fischer added 18 points and 11 rebounds and Kelli McCaskill had 16 points and 17 rebounds.

Cal State Sacramento 80, Cal State Northridge 49--Shagarro Lattin (10 points) was the only player to score in double figures for Northridge (1-23).

BASEBALL

Cal Lutheran 10-12, Occidental 1-2--Darrell McMillin hit two home runs to propel visiting Cal Lutheran to a sweep of a Southern California Intercollegiate Athletic Conference doubleheader.

McMillin, who went five for seven on the day, hit a solo homer in the first game and added a two-run shot in the second.

In the first game, Mike Suarez’s grand slam in the fifth inning gave Cal Lutheran (8-0, 3-0 in conference play) a 5-0 lead. Eric Johnson went three for four in the second game and Mike Winslow (3-0) struck out four and walked one in six innings.

The Master’s 14, Westmont 2--Tony MacCaughtry doubled twice and hit his third home run to lead Master’s (5-5, 3-0) in an NAIA District 3 game at Westmont. Andy Martin hit his second home run and drove in three runs for Master’s, which hit four home runs and had 17 hits.

Dan O’Sullivan hit his fourth home run and Steve Smith added his second for Master’s. Mike Smith (3-1) allowed no earned runs through eight innings.

Canyons 9, Kings River 1; Canyons 2, Merced 0--Jeff Hairell went three for four with five runs batted in for Canyons (3-6), which advanced to today’s championship game of the Merced tournament.

Earlier Saturday, R.J. Simone (1-0), a freshman from Hart High, threw a one-hitter in his first start to help Canyons stop Merced.

Jim Brandt’s third-inning bunt single was the only hit allowed by Simone, who struck out seven and walked three. Canyons, which lost to Merced, 4-3, Friday, must beat Laney twice to win the championship.

Moorpark 13, Hancock 8--Jeff Sommer, Tom Lunsford and David Demaio each had three hits and Mike Jenkins gave up four runs and four hits over six innings for host Moorpark (4-3) in a nonconference game.

WOMEN’S TENNIS

Cal State Northridge 5, Westmont 4--Jenny Cotone and Monica Kocian each won singles and doubles matches for host Cal State Northridge (2-3), which won its second consecutive dual match.

Cotone defeated Julie Early, 6-2, 6-4, and teamed with Cindy Nielson to defeat Shea Abby and Kristan Abby, 4-6, 6-2, 6-4. Kocian defeated Kristan Abby, 6-1, 6-0, and teamed with Samantha McCargar to defeat Julie Elliott and Shannon Griffith, 6-4, 6-3.
