PREP BASEBALL 1992: GARDEN GROVE LEAGUE : Garden Grove
OUTLOOK
The Argonauts, who finished third in the league last season behind Santiago and La Quinta, are among the favorites this year. They return eight starters, including right-handed pitchers Brandon Hoalton and Blea, who Rawls said make the best one-two combination in the county. “Hoalton is really a good one,” Rawls said. “The two could be very good. They are velocity pitchers and have exceptional curveballs.” Hoalton, who is 6 feet 2 and 180 pounds, was 3-1 with a 1.25 earned-run average last year. Blea (6-4, 200 pounds) was 3-3 with a 1.35 ERA. If Garden Grove has a problem, however, it is hitting. Rawls said the Argonauts batted about .260 collectively in 1991, and that’s considering they had the county’s leading hitter in Joe Aguirre (.545), now at Golden West College. Rawls is looking to Sebreros (.334), three-year varsity letterman Henson (.339) and all-league player McHale (.373) to help offensively.
