San Diego
A shootout in East San Diego left one man dead Monday night, as numerous combatants fled on foot shortly before police arrived at the scene, authorities said.
Officers received a call at 8:02 p.m. that shots were being fired in an alley behind the 3600 block of Van Dyke Avenue, and that “people were running from the area with guns,” a San Diego police spokesman said.
Police found an unidentified man, thought to be between 35 and 40 years old, lying dead next to a Cadillac.
