COMMUNITY COLLEGE ROUNDUP : Jourden Pitches One-Hitter in Opener as Saddleback Wins Twice in Softball
Jennifer Jourden pitched a one-hitter as Saddleback defeated San Bernardino Valley, 3-1, Monday in the first game of a nonconference doubleheader at Saddleback.
Jourden (4-0), who struck out eight, had a no-hitter until the second batter of the seventh inning hit a bloop single. Shelly Byrd had a double, a triple and a run batted in for the Gauchos, who improved to 7-0 after winning the second game, 6-1.
In another nonconference softball game:
Orange Coast 5, Canyons 1--Sandra Lutsch had two doubles and scored two runs for Orange Coast (6-2), which won at home. Stephanie Rogers had three hits, including a double, and drove in two runs for OCC. The Pirates turned a triple play in the fourth inning. Jill Bishop (2-0) pitched six innings for the victory.
